Global Day Is Dedicated to One Health

Faculty and students from the and will join colleagues from around the world on Nov. 3 to highlight the benefits of a One Health approach. We'll also have our own events Nov. 4 and 5, including a symposium.

This first global was created by three international groups, the , the and the .

The goal is to feature projects developed by participants to showcase the One Health approach for addressing critical global health challenges.

Will you be a part of the festivities?

Our teams at 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis will host live-streaming sessions and follow the international One Health Day events in real-time. Well provide a full list of those events this fall.

Three $5,000 cash prizes will be awarded to student teams that plan One Health Day events. The winners will be selected by a jury of international experts.

Our Students for One Health club is already planning. If you have an idea, or if you would like to participate in the celebration of One Health, email OneHealth@ucdavis.edu. If you are already planning an event, please register here so we can help promote it.

At 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis, we will have events planned for Nov. 4 and 5 in addition to the official day of celebration on Nov 3. Heres the itinerary:

Thursday, Nov. 3

On the official One Health Day, we will join colleagues from around the world by gathering for live-streamed events. A list of those events will be released in October.

Friday, Nov. 4

Students for One Health will host a panel at the .  Current veterinary students a chance to pick the brains of faculty members and doctoral students, all working in the fields of One Health and wildlife.

Saturday, Nov. 5

2016 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis One Health Symposium

  • 8:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m.
  • Hosted by the Students for One Health and the One Health Institute

The theme of this years symposium is Collaboration in the Face of a Changing Environment. Discussion topics will range from the Zika virus and the geographical distribution of mosquitos and other vectors to respiratory disease caused by environmental particulates, and to disaster preparedness and response. 

The deans from the 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis schools of Nursing, Medicine and Veterinary Medicine will give the days capstone address. A networking reception will follow the symposium.  A list of speakers and topics, along with the days agenda, will be published in this blog at the beginning of fall quarter.
