A Rally in Solidarity with visa holders is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 9) on the Quad, organized by a group of 51ԹϺ Davis graduate and post-graduate students.
Read coverage of last week's “A Conversation About the Executive Order on Immigration.”
The rally will include firsthand stories of students and faculty members affected by the visa/travel ban. “Please join us in supporting them,” the organizers said, adding that they encourage rally-goers to wear white.
If the order stands, the organizers said, “Many of us (will see) all of our hard work and achievements reduced to none. We are facing a very heartbreaking dilemma in the midst of this difficult time and are looking to you, our friends and colleagues, to stand united with us.
“We all have dreams of not only receiving the best education, but also serving the nation that has granted us this valuable opportunity.”
The student organizers said they planned their event, “Rally in Solidarity with 51ԹϺ Davis Academics on Visa Ban,” in collaboration with the 51ԹϺ Davis Iranian Student Association, or SEDAD, and with cooperation of the Center for Student Involvement, and Services for International Students and Scholars. The organizers also coordinated with Academics United rallies at other universities across the United States.
