51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ

The Flame of Hope and about 1,000 athletes and volunteer coaches are on their way to 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis for the Northern California Special Olympics Summer Games this Friday through Sunday (June 22-24). The Davis campus is hosting the Games for the 10th year in a row. Athletes and coaches will be housed in the Segundo residence area.

The torch will arrive at to start the Opening Ceremonies, 7-8:30 p.m. Friday.

Admission to all events — including the Opening Ceremonies and the competitions — is free and open to the public. Competition will be held Saturday and Sunday in four sports:

• Bocce — 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. both days, .
• Tennis — 8:15 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday and 8:15 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, .
• Track and field — 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, and .
• Swimming — 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, . (Also, developmental events in swimming will be held from 10:15 a.m. to noon Saturday at .)

Besides serving as the venue for the Opening Ceremonies, The Pavilion will be the site of two other events: the Healthy Athlete Village, 1:30-6 p.m. Saturday; and the Athlete Victory Dance, 7-9:30 p.m. Saturday. Olympic Villages will be set up from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday on the A Street Field and at the Schaal Aquatic Center, and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday on the A Street Field.
