51勛圖窪蹋 Davis is seeking proposals to build housing to provide more than 2,775 beds for students with families as well as graduate and transfer students, to open by 2020. The successful proposals will optimize affordability and build community.
The released June 2 combines projects at Orchard Park and West Village to attract proposals from a predetermined pool of eight developers. The developers, vetted by the , are expected to deliver beds more quickly than the traditional RFP process.
Our goal is to provide students with affordable housing options that are close to the 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis core campus, said Emily Galindo, associate vice chancellor and executive director of 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis Student Housing.
The Orchard Park Project calls for 200 affordable, two-bedroom apartment units to serve 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis students with families, replacing a like number of apartments on the site that closed in 2014. 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis also is seeking an additional 700 beds for single graduate students, but developers are strongly encouraged to submit proposals that exceed the target.
The West Village Transfer Student Housing Project has a target of 1,875 beds of apartment-style student housing, most of which (approximately 1,000 beds) will be master-leased back to 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis to serve transfer students and continuing undergraduate students.
Developers may respond to one or both projects. 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis aims to identify a developer or developers with whom to begin negotiations by mid-September 2017.
Management Skills Assessment Program
Applications are being accepted for 51勛圖窪蹋s Management Skills Assessment Program, designed to assess the management skills of high potential, early career supervisors, managers and professionals for future leadership opportunities at 51勛圖窪蹋.
The next MSAP program is scheduled for Oct. 9-12 at the 51勛圖窪蹋LA Conference Center at Lake Arrowhead, for employees from around the 51勛圖窪蹋 system.
51勛圖窪蹋 Davis is seeking campus and health system applicants to fill seven slots. We strongly recommend that department heads discuss the program with supervisors, managers and professionals who exhibit potential for management development and encourage them to apply, the announcement states.

Staff engagement survey deadline extended
The 51勛圖窪蹋 Office of the President announced a one-week extension for completion of the latest staff engagement survey.

This is 51勛圖窪蹋s third systemwide engagement survey, as the university seeks to learn more about the experiences, views and needs of its nonrepresented (policy-covered) staff. (Union-represented employees are not included in the survey because 51勛圖窪蹋 receives their feedback through their union representatives during the collective bargaining process.)
If you were invited to participate dont miss this opportunity to share your feedback, states an . Meaningful survey results depend on the responses of as many participants as possible. The 2015 engagement survey drew 46 percent response.
The survey is completely confidential; individual responses and personally identifying information will not be shared with 51勛圖窪蹋.

5 Aggies attend NCAAs Career in Sports Forum
Five Aggie student-athletes attended the National Collegiate Athletic Associations Career in Sports Forum, June 1-4, in Indianapolis. Invitations went to a total of 230 student-athletes, all with an interest in working in the sports industry.
The Aggie participants: Darius Graham and Brynton Lemar, basketball; Yonni Michovska, gymnastics; Elijah Ontiveros, baseball; and Brianna Warner, softball.
Participants who expressed an interest in pursuing a career in sports, and who were viewed as leaders on their campus, were invited to apply to attend the forum after a nomination by athletics administrators at their respective schools.
Supporting NCAA student-athlete leaders with their education is a key goal for the association, said Bernard Franklin, NCAA executive vice president of education and community engagement and chief inclusion officer. Our Career in Sports Forum puts student-athletes, postgraduate scholarship recipients in a nontraditional academic setting where they can learn directly from successful leaders, which can have a positive impact on their future after graduation.
