Media opportunities at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis on Tuesday, Sept. 28

Several debate-related events on and off campus are open to media on Tuesday, Sept. 28, the day that 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis hosts the first debate between California gubernatorial candidates Jerry Brown and Meg Whitman.

12:10 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Kalmanovitz Appellate Courtroom, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis School of Law (one block north of the Mondavi Center, where the debate will be held)

Dan Schnur, a veteran political strategist who helped prepare John McCain and Pete Wilson for debates, will join a panel discussion about why debates matter and what viewers should watch for. Other panelists: Carla Marinucci, San Francisco Chronicle political reporter; Vikram Amar, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis professor of law; Larry Berman, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis political science professor and founding director of the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Washington Center; and Robert Huckfeldt, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis political science professor and director of the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis Institute of Governmental Affairs and 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Center Sacramento. A.G. Block, associate director of 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Center Sacramento and a seasoned observer of California politics, will moderate the discussion. The event is free and open to the public.
