Message sent today (Feb. 17) on behalf of Viji Murali, chief information officer and vice provost, Information and Educational Technology; and Neeraj Chauhan, associate CIO for Enterprise Infrastructure Services.
Dear 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis Community,I'm writing to inform you about the issues we are experiencing with wireless connectivity, both Eduroam and Guest Wireless, across the Davis campus.
I understand that our community relies on our wireless network service. IET is taking this situation very seriously and are focusing all available resources to get a resolution as soon as possible.
Background
Problems started in mid-January with intermittent connectivity issues and have progressively worsened over the past two weeks. At this point, the issues have spread across multiple locations and are impacting faculty, staff, and students, including the new TLC building. Davis campus wired network connections are working fine.
The health system in Sacramento is not impacted.
What are we doing to resolve this? IET is working closely with our vendor on a solution. We are meeting with them daily, have attempted several fixes and are continuing to analyze our systems. Unfortunately, this is an intermittent issue that is challenging to isolate. IET will be monitoring and working through the long weekend to see if we can isolate the issue.
What can you do? If possible, use a wired network connection by plugging into a wall network outlet. We realize this option may not be convenient or available in all locations.
Where can more information be found? We will be providing an email update Tuesday (Feb. 21) and regular updates to the campus community through multiple channels including Canvas messages and campus digital signage. We are also working closely with IT teams in the schools and colleges. For more information, please contact IT Express by phone, 530-754-4357, or email, ithelp@ucdavis.edu, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.
