HEALTHY 51勛圖窪蹋 DAVIS: Call for Project Proposals

The steering committee for has put out a call for proposals that will support its organizational mandate of making 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis the healthiest community in the nation.

The committee indicates it is particularly interested in projects in five priority areas:

  • Creating one place or hub for our community to find resources and information about health, well-being and wellness
  • Creating metrics and desired outcomes for health and well-being programs and Healthy 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis as a whole
  • Creating ways to keep and increase leadership support for health and well-being efforts.
  • Creating and enhancing policies that support the health and well-being of our community
  • Creating a physical space for health and well-being programming and community building

The deadline for proposals is Monday, June 3.

Plant-Powered: A Beginners Guide to Plant-Based Nutrition Learn about making delicious, nutritious meals without animal products. Vegan and clinical nutrition student Rebekah Shulman, will explain the components of a whole-food, plant-based diet; how to build a balanced meal; and strategies to incorporate more plant-based foods into your diet. Noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 142 .

This research-based, nationally-recognized program seeks to help participants achieve and maintain a 7 percent weight loss with healthy eating and an active lifestyle, reducing their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

This is a 12-month, group-based program that is gradual and reasonable, and is offered at no cost to 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis community members and dependents who qualify. Meetings are held weekly for the first three months (noon to 1 p.m. Thursdays, 130 , starting June 27), every other week in months 4 through 6, and monthly for the remaining six months.
