Quick Summary
- Employees advised to avoid rush of returning students next week
- Negative test is required before returning to your workplace Jan. 10
- ARC and Healthy Davis Together testing sites open through Thursday
The Davis campus is encouraging employees and students who remain in the area to undergo COVID-19 testing this week to avoid the rush of students who will need to be tested when they return next week.
BOOSTER SHOTS
Chancellor May and Provost Croughan also announced Dec. 21 a new Davis campus requirement for COVID-19 booster shots for all employees and students except those with vaccine exemptions currently in place. See box below.
As announced by the chancellor and provost Dec. 21, employees and students must have a negative test result BEFORE returning to the classroom or workplace Monday, Jan. 10.
The preceding week, Jan. 3-7, the first week of the quarter, has been designated for remote instruction and working from home (for most employees), to give everyone time to be tested. Note: Essential employees who continued to work in person during the 2020-21 academic year should do the same Jan. 3-7.
Testing our entire community within just one week will put a strain on our operations, so please do not wait until January 6 or 7 to schedule your test, Chancellor Gary S. May and Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Mary Croughan wrote in their . We need to work together to get this done quickly in order to keep our campus healthy.
Nothing precludes you from getting tested now. A negative test today (Dec. 28), for example, would clear you for entry to campus facilities for 14 days, through Jan. 10. You would need to be tested again Jan. 11 and every 14 days thereafter. (The campus had planned to end its every-14-day testing requirement but decided to keep it due to the spread of the omicron variant of the coronavirus.)
The small percentage of students and employees who are unvaccinated, with approved exceptions, must continue to undergo testing every four days.
Testing sites include the Activities and Recreation Center (asymptomatic testing only) on campus, Healthy Davis Together and the Sacramento campus.
