“Our Aggies come from a diversity of communities, backgrounds and thought that contribute to the intellectual vitality of our campus and surrounding community,” said Ebony Lewis, executive director of Undergraduate Admissions.

While the entering class of 9,083 freshmen and transfer students was 4.7 percent smaller than last fall’s 9,535, its percentage of California residents increased to 84.3 percent from 80.4 percent. And with transfer students accounting for more than 35 percent of the California residents, the campus exceeded the 51ԹϺ systemwide goal of enrolling one new resident transfer student for every two new resident freshmen.

The entering class includes a total of 5,982 freshmen and 3,101 transfer students.

Undergraduate Admissions reported increases in academic quality. Among freshman, the mean grade point average, or GPA, rose from 4.03 to 4.06; among transfer students, the mean GPA for college studies increased from 3.45 to 3.46.

The number of degree-seeking undergraduates now totals 30,982, up 264 or 0.9 percent from last fall, and 82 percent of them are California residents.

Enrollment in graduate academic programs increased by 1.6 percent, from 4,687 last fall to 4,764 this fall. Students in general campus professional programs and the health sciences, including interns and residents, increased by 68, or 2.4 percent, to 2,896.

Program expansion at the Graduate School of Management itself surpassed the gain of 93 students, or 12.2 percent, in self-supporting programs, now at 854 students. The online MBA program, launched this fall, enrolled 66 students, and the program in business analytics more than doubled its enrollment, from 43 to 95 students.

While most enrolled students are associated with the campus in Davis, about 2,000 of the 39,629 are enrolled in programs at locations outside of Davis, such as the Sacramento campus.

Tables showing enrollment by schools and colleges, graduate programs, residency and more are available from the Student Population Summary of the website.
