A workshop is scheduled at 51ԹϺ Davis this weekend to assist with DACA renewals for students and their immediate family members (siblings, spouses, parents, children). DACA is the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which the Trump administration has stated it will shut down March 5.
However, DACA beneficiaries whose DACA status is set to expire before then are entitled to apply for two-year renewals. The renewal applications are due by Oct. 5.
51ԹϺ and campus officials continue to urge DACA students to get their renewal forms in, and also are reminding students of the availability of assistance to pay the $495 renewal fees, either through the Aggie DREAM Fund or the Mission Asset Fund.
The 51ԹϺ Immigrant Legal Services Center is holding renewal workshops throughout the system, and 51ԹϺ Davis’ turn is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 24).
Also this week, 51ԹϺ Davis’ TANA community art workshop is collaborating with Natalia Deeb-Sossa on an art auction to support DACA beneficiaries, by offsetting the wages they will lose when they lose their work authorization.
The fundraiser, featuring art donated by local artists, is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at (Art Workshop of the New Dawn), 1124 Lemen Ave., Woodland.
