An assessment team from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, or IACLEA, is seeking public comments on the performance of the 51ԹϺ Davis Police Department. The voluntary assessment, conducted remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is part of the department’s goal of being accredited by the IACLEA.
“Accreditation is not just a goal or a destination, it’s an institutional value,” Police Chief Joe Farrow said. “A continual self-assessment, partnered with the leaders of our profession, helps assure our policies and procedures remain contemporary and responsive to the communities we serve.”
The assessment will examine all aspects of the department’s policies and procedures, management, operation and support services.
Public comments on the department’s performance related to IACLEA standards may be submitted by email, U.S. mail or phone (during a specified time period):
- Email — IACLEAcomments@ucdavis.edu
- U.S. mail — IACLEA, 342 N. Main St., West Hartford, CT 06117-2507
- Phone — 530-752-8389 from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27
The deadline to submit comments is November 1.
This is the first time that the campus Police Department has sought IACLEA accreditation. If awarded, accreditation lasts for four years, with annual reports.
