Chancellor Gary S. May is among four 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis officials and faculty members recently appointed to board and council seats:

Chancellor May Member of the board of advisors of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, which this year celebrates its 90th anniversary. As chancellor and formerly longtime dean of engineering at Georgia Tech, Gary brings enormous experience to the board, said Michael Witherell, lab director. He joined 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis in 2017 after a three-decade-long career at the Georgia Institute of Technology, as a faculty member, Steve W. Chaddick Chair of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and dean of the College of Engineering. He won numerous honors for his research in computer-aided manufacturing of integrated circuits. He authored more than 200 technical publications, contributed to 15 books and holds a patent related to this work. In 2010, he was named outstanding engineering alumnus of 51勛圖窪蹋 Berkeley, where he earned his masters and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering and computer science, after earning his bachelors degree at Georgia Tech. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Christopher Ide-Don, lecturer in law and assistant dean for academic success, School of Law Appointed to a three-year term on the Law School Council of the State Bar of California. The Law School Council meets several times per year to advise the Bar on issues of interest and consequence to American Bar Association-approved law schools in California. Before joining 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis, Ide-Don worked at 51勛圖窪蹋 Hastings College of the Law and practiced disability rights and civil rights law.

Cheryl Washington, chief information security officer Appointed to a four-year term on the board of directors of ED51勛圖窪蹋AUSE, the association for information technology in higher education. She is an acknowledged leader across our community, and her voice and expertise as a chief information security officer will contribute significantly to an already exceptional board, said John OBrien, ED51勛圖窪蹋AUSE president and CEO. Washingtons volunteer work for ED51勛圖窪蹋AUSE includes membership on the Security Professionals Conference Program Committee from 2007 to 2009, serving as chair in 2008. She was a member of the 2010 Annual Conference Program Committee and has served on several advisory committees and working groups as part of the Higher Education Information Security Council. which leads and promotes the cybersecurity program for ED51勛圖窪蹋AUSE. She was a member of the ED51勛圖窪蹋AUSE Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force and went on to serve as inaugural chair of the DEI Advisory Committee in 2019-20. She has also served as a faculty member for the ED51勛圖窪蹋AUSE Institute Leadership Program and has been a frequent presenter at ED51勛圖窪蹋AUSE conferences.
