The 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis Genome Center reported Sunday (Jan. 3) that it had processed the 100,000th saliva sample in the university’s COVID-19 asymptomatic testing program.

The number comprises samples taken since the program began Sept. 14 with a single testing kiosk in The Pavilion parking garage (this kiosk has since moved inside the Activities and Recreation Center), and samples taken elsewhere — for example, at locations serving the community, and a new kiosk on the Sacramento campus.

FROM REP. GARAMENDI

In a Sunday, the congressman lauds 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis’ testing program and asks: “Could the key to reopening our nation’s schools, businesses, and economy be found right in our backyard?â€

The ARC kiosk, for students and employees, reopened Sunday after being closed for most of winter break, Dec. 21-Jan. 1, with the exception of a half-day Dec. 26.

Students returning from break are expected to get tested at least once per week for the first two weeks of winter quarter, in addition to self-quarantining where they live for 10 days â€” even if their tests are negative. Testing and quarantine requirements may differ for students living in campus housing, and residents should refer to communications from Student Housing and Dining Services for specific guidance.

Employees accessing 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis facilities in Davis or elsewhere in Yolo County have until Jan. 7 to resume testing. A COVID-19 testing question will return to the Daily Symptom Survey that day, asking for a yes/no answer to the question: “Have you participated in COVID-19 testing within the past seven days OR do you have an appointment for COVID-19 testing today OR have you been directed by a campus healthcare official to discontinue testing at this time?â€

Consider scheduling and completing your first COVID-19 test of 2021 prior to Jan. 7, in the event a testing appointment is not available on that date, so that you may continue complying with campus policy.

The ARC kiosk is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, with extended hours on Wednesdays, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments are required through the .
