Costumes here and there in Davis and at 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis
Davis Musical Theatre Company will hold its annual costume sale this weekend where shoppers can browse the inventory from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 6 and 7.
The sale happens at The Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center, is at 607 Pe簽a Drive, Davis.
And coming soon, beginning Oct. 17, 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis offers its costumes. This Halloween transform yourself by visiting The Enchanted Cellar, a costume rental service operated by the 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis Letters and Sciences Department of Theatre and Dance.
The collection features inspired by Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Star Trek characters along with movie stars and superheroes, animated favorites, fairies, and original Steampunk. Many iconic fashion periods are represented too, such as the 1920s, Victorian England and the French Court of Marie Antoinette.
We have kits starting at $35 which include all accessories head-to-toe, said Roxanne Femling, director of the costume shop. Or people can make an individual appointment with one of our costume consultants who will make up a kit from our stock and customers can put together their own character. Come have fun with it!
The Enchanted Cellar is located in Room 17 on the lower level of Wright Hall, on campus near the Ann E. Pitzer Center. Although appointments are preferred, walk-in hours are Oct. 17-19 and 24-26 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Oct. 29-31 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday Oct. 20 and 27 are by appointment only and must be booked 24 hours in advance.

In conjunction with , exhibition artist Victor Cartagena; Juan Hernandez, executive director of La Luz Center; Dalila Hern獺ndez-Ram穩rez, founder of Espanol in the Valley, and Caitlin Vega, legislative director, California Labor Federation will discuss the relationship of immigration, community, and labor, in "En 唬棗紳措梗娶莽硃釵勳籀紳: Labor, Immigration and Community," with Cartagenas work on view at di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art, Napa.
Also, join di Rosa a special Community Open Studios commemorating the communitys resilience one year after the North Bay fires.
Focused on creativity and communal participation, visitors of all ages are encouraged to stop by and make something at the art stations arranged on the patio of Gallery 1, overlooking Winery Lake. Education staff and volunteers will be on hand to assist with the creative experience and non-toxic art supplies are provided (please do not bring your own materials).
Free. Drop-ins are encouraged.
Paint a mural Oct. 12-14
Looking ahead to next weekend, 51勛圖窪蹋 Davis graduate and mural artist Danielle Fodor invites the community to come help her paint an intersection mural in Davis. Help create a gigantic intersection mural on the bike/ped pathway of the North Davis Greenbelt and onto Hacienda Avenue on Oct. 12-14. I've been working on this project for several months, and I'm really excited to share the grand finalePAINT WEEKENDwith you, she writes.
All ages are welcome at the free painting partywith live music and foodto create public art and community.
No skill needed, because the mural will be painted on with big brushes and rollers, as a gigantic paint by number.
Needed are more than 100 Saturday paintersand 40-plus super volunteers Friday through Sunday to wash the street and chalk the designto make this art happen.

This unique shop space is coming available for October. Located out in the country 3 miles from Davis its a great rural setting where you can do your thing without annoying the neighbors. The available space is 400 square feet and features a 200 square foot common area and a bathroom. Your shop mates are hobbyist metal workers. There is lighting, electricity and compressed air on site. No living on site. The full space is $450 monthly but will consider getting two smaller spaces for $225 each.
