Gallery 625 in Woodland will be holding an opening reception for Hidden Talents: Artwork of Yolo County Employees, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6. The exhibit will be up until Feb. 4.
The opening reception will feature Julie Dachtler, Yolo County Deputy Clerk, playing holiday tunes on the piano. Artists will be attending the reception.
The show, hosted by YoloArts board member Beth Jackson, will showcase works from the hidden lives of people who work for various Yolo County departments. The day job titles of these artists include: case manager, director, librarian, appraiser and agricultural inspector.
This exhibit is an opportunity to get to know 15 Yolo County employees through their highly personal art, inspiring unique insights into who they are beyond their daily jobs, said Janice Purnell, YoloArts creative director and the exhibitions curator, in a press release.
Meanwhile, artwork created through the I SEE YOU project will be on display in the gallery upstairs. The project is an outreach and engagement program for those experiencing homelessness. Work from the exhibit will be on sale and proceeds raised will go to individual artists. Special to the exhibition will be a mural created by participants at Fourth & Hope, which will be placed at the Fourth & Hope emergency shelter in Woodland after completion of the show.
Gallery 625 hosts exhibitions and receptions every other month and is located at 625 Court Street in Woodland, in Yolo County's Erwin Meier Administration building. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and by appointment. For more information contact YoloArts at 530-309-6464 or visit .
