The University of California, Davis, Cal Aggie Alumni Association has announced the recipients of its 2025 Alumni Awards, celebrating extraordinary alumni and friends who have made a lasting impact on their communities and the university.

This year’s honorees are trailblazers in their fields — driving innovation, championing equity, and transforming the future of science, technology and veterinary care. They are also committed to supporting students by providing mentorship, resources and opportunities for success at 51�ԹϺ�� Davis and beyond.

Alum Changemaker Awarded Prestigious Global Scholarship

After representing more than 230,000 of her peers as 51�ԹϺ�� Student Association president, Celene Aridin is ready to take her advocacy to the global stage. The 2024 51�ԹϺ�� Davis graduate joins an elite cadre of 150 scholars from around the world who will study China’s emerging role in global affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing as a 2025 Schwarzman Scholar.

The art scene at the University of California, Davis, just got even better.

In their first major commitment to 51�ԹϺ�� Davis, philanthropists Kellie and Jeff Hepper ’79 have pledged $1 million to create the Hepper Family Exhibition Fund, an endowed gift to support the core exhibition work of the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art.

Alumnus Charles Rice Wins Nobel Prize for Medicine

Charles M. Rice, who earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis, is a recipient of the 2020 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine announced this morning (Oct. 5).

“I’m delighted to see the work of one of our alumni honored with a Nobel Prize,” 51�ԹϺ�� Davis Chancellor Gary S. May said. “On behalf of the entire 51�ԹϺ�� Davis family, I offer my heartfelt congratulations to Professor Rice. His research and dedication inspire us. This is who we are.”
