Active Aggies Mobile is staying active all summer long, and a new, four-part series of Gentle Lunchtime Yoga is scheduled to begin Aug. 30. Both programs are free and open to staff, faculty, students and retirees.
A Midday Mindfulness Meditation program continues this month, also free and also for staff, faculty, students and retirees; and registration will open next week for “Mindful Awareness Practices,” a free, six-week course in the fall for staff and faculty.
Also, Breastfeeding Week/Month presentations for everyone in the community are continuing through Aug. 30.
• Active Aggies Mobile — “We are good to go through the end of Summer Session 2 (Sept. 13) at both locations,” announced Stacey Brezing, director of the , which co-sponsors this exercise and fitness program with Campus Recreation and Unions, and Healthy 51ԹϺ Davis. Open to staff, faculty, students and retirees, who have their choice of two cohorts — Monday-Wednesday and Tuesday-Thursday — in different parts of campus:
- Monday-Wednesday — 150 (the old Scrubs Café), Health Sciences District.

• Gentle Lunchtime Yoga — Open to staff, faculty, students and retirees. This four-part, relaxing yoga series caters to all abilities, with a focus on breathing, stretches and poses. The class aims to help people learn more about improving their well-being through movement. Instructor: Kia Meaux. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring their own yoga mats, blankets or towels. 12:10-1 p.m. Thursdays, Aug. 30 through Sept. 20, Vanderhoef Studio Theatre, Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. Space is limited.
• “Mindful Awareness Practices” — Six-week course for staff and faculty. Free, with optional continuing education units available for a fee. Registration will open Tuesday, Aug. 14. Take note: Space is limited; participants will be selected via a lottery system.
The class will meet from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. six Mondays in a row, Sept. 10 to Oct. 15, on the Davis campus. Learn how to develop a personal mindfulness meditation practice that promotes your health and well-being and helps you better manage stress. Through experiential exercises and group discussions, in a supportive community environment, these classes will prepare you to apply mindfulness in daily life.

Breastfeeding Week/Month
51ԹϺ Davis’ turned World Breastfeeding Week (Aug. 1-7) into World Breastfeeding Month — more than a month, actually. All remaining programs will be held in 7106 Glassrock Building, ; admission is free and open to the 51ԹϺ Davis community and wider community as well.
- Breastfeeding Rights and Advocacy — Presentation by Erica Escalante of the U.S. Department of Labor, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9.
- 51ԹϺ Davis’ Path to Baby Friendly — Debbie Albert, lactation consultant, 51ԹϺ Davis Medical Center, will lead a discussion about 51ԹϺ Davis’ “Path to Baby Friendly,” and how we provide breastfeeding support to both patients and employees. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13.
- Baby Wearing — Presentation by Sacramento Babywearers on the act or practice of keeping an infant close to an adult’s torso by using a supporting device that straps to the front of the adult’s body.10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16.
- Wonders of Breastmilk and the Microbiome — Presentation by Emily Cole Yager, community outreach coordinator for REMEDI (Rescuing the Microbiome Effectively With Different Doses of B. infantis in Infants), a study being conducted by the 51ԹϺ Davis Foods for Health Institute. 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23.
